The announcement area of the classroom is normally found on the main course home page. Ideally, this is the first place that a student will look when entering the class. From my experience, I find that they go to the gradebook first to check their grade and make sure that all is well, and then they make their way to the announcement page. We would be naive to believe that students read and understand all of our announcements. We do need put some onus on the students and condition them to understand the importance of reading the announcements that we post in the classrooms. The announcement board is a great way to communicate to the students all at once. This area is used only by the instructor and sometimes by the school administration. The students are not allowed to post on the announcement board. We will look at some key announcements that your classes should have in other sections. I just wanted to briefly discuss what the announcement board is and why we use it.
